Projects

Each and every project is unique with a mixture of client, brief, site, end user and many other contextual factors influencing the final architectural design. We believe we are a proactive practice with no pre-defined ideas or solutions, working closely with all interested parties to achieve a successful final building. Our approach

Domestic

For our domestic clients, we are aware that embarking on a new build or extension to your home can be a daunting task. To support with this, we offer a free initial consultation where we visit you to understand your aspirations and to form the basis of a project brief. We will ascertain what is feasible, and we are often able to identify opportunities that you may not have even considered! We take care to talk you through the design process, what you can expect from us, and any legal approvals required.

Residential

We recognise that property developer clients have different criteria when considering potential redevelopment opportunities. However, we have proven ability to retain a design focused approach to ensure the final product(s) are suitably sized, orientated and contextual, ensuring homes are occupied or sold quickly to realise their return. From feasibility studies, through the planning process and onto site operations, our services are fine tuned to meet the skillset of our client and their team.

Education

We take pride in our educational projects, from early years through to further education. We work hard from the outset to ensure headteacher aspirations are compatible with local authority funding whilst also reviewing against the necessary legislation and current guidance. Our designs typically use the existing building stock as a start point, using our knowledge of curriculum delivery and day to day school activities to generate proposals that can be built with minimal impact upon the education of our children and young people.

Community

Architecture can have a significant impact on society and our wellbeing, and we are all subjected to many types of buildings throughout our lifetime. At Alcove Architecture we are not deterred by any kind of commission, working closely with clients to determine their needs and create spaces and buildings that meet their briefs. From hospitality projects through commercial and health-based facilities to the creation of large multi-purpose halls, we have proven experience.

Collaboration

The key to successful projects is the ability to work with others whether that be with a signature larger architectural practice to alleviate their resourcing, through to assisting main contractors with the technical coordination of the various design elements in construction. We have had extensive experience and success when collaborating with other consultants, developers and contractors typically due to recommendation and reputation.

Refurbishment

Refurbishment projects allow us to rejuvenate existing buildings and structures which are no longer fit for their intended purpose, ensuring the buildings use for years to come without the cost and environmental impact of new construction. Projects vary from home renovations which improve layout, appearance and energy efficiency, to schools where refurbishment of an existing building is required to provide an efficient modern learning environment. We have experience in dealing with listed buildings and liaising with local authority Conservation Officers.
