“We met Julian through a quantity surveyor friend and have found his efficient and professional approach refreshing in a very difficult period of planning. It’s nice to deal with a company that do what they say they will do, thank you Alcove Architecture.” David Stone, Amiga Homes
A development of luxury detached family homes in a unique setting
A housing development on a former scrap metal yard in North Mundham on the outskirts of Chichester, consisting of eight properties.
A contextually sensitive architectural design was required to ensure a cohesive relationship with the local area and existing dwellings adjacent to the site. This is reflected in the building forms and in the use of traditional materials such as tile hanging, weatherboard cladding and render both externally and internally to create a unique appearance to each property.
Alcove Architecture worked with the developer, Strongwork Developments, to provide an initial feasibility study for the site before developing the design for outline planning consent. Following an initial refusal, the scheme was submitted under appeal and was subsequently enlarged to enable greater site density.
We were then appointed to provide tender information and the building regulations submission, as well as providing on-site support during the construction phase.
