Welcome to Alcove Architecture, a RIBA chartered architectural practice located in the heart of Worthing, Sussex. Established in 2013, we have been providing architectural services to a range of clients for over a decade.
From humble beginnings (in the alcove), the practice has grown from strength to strength and has established itself as one of the top-rated registered architects thanks to our excellent reputation, and affiliation with the RIBA.
A significant proportion of our commissions come via recommendation or repeat clients, and as a result we are thrilled with this confirmation that we have met (and often exceeded) our clients expectations so much that they are happy to recommend or come back to us with future projects.

Shortlisted!
Fantastic news this week as we have been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects 'Zero to Hero' international competition.
Our entry for this Olympic inspired competition involved creating a temporary sports venue using the built environment of either London or Edinburgh.
Here is a sneak peak of our entry "Sport Climbing at Grant's Quay Wharf" and we will share more once we know how well we did later this month!
This is a superb acomplishment for our small practice on the south coast.

One year on... our client Hamilton Homes and Developments surprised us with some lovely photos of the finished development in Pagham... almost exactly one year since our previous post regarding these 6 bespoke homes (swipe to see previous WIP photo). Thankfully the sunshine reappeared - great to see the internal spaces full of light and space as envisaged!

Project on site! Thanks to the site team @beard.construct for providing some photos of progress at Hoe Valley School in Woking. This three-storey extension will accommodate the school's new Sixth Form and includes social spaces, seminar rooms and quiet study areas... exciting to see the steel frame up followed by installation of the concrete floor planks!

It was a glorious sunny day at Worthing FC this weekend for the final home game of the season and we went along to celebrate their successful 4 – 2 win to secure third place in the league and a place in the Vanarama National League Southern Play Offs.
Congratulations to all involved in what has been another great season for the Rebels. With over 2,000 people attending the game (including @hardestgeezer ) we had to wait for just the right moment to get this snapshot!

Spring is here! This garden room extension to a cottage in Southwick infills a previously underused external area against the boundary wall/neighbour’s extension and has provided the owners with an extended living area, utility room and home office area. We introduced a window seat to frame the view of the garden and provide a reading ‘nook’, and now with the arrival of spring the owners will be able to open up the double doors and enjoy the link between their internal and external spaces. The existing boundary wall to the rear of the garden is constructed from traditional flint with masonry details, which was reflected in the material selection for the extension, helping to anchor the new addition into its context.

You may have seen our logo on TV at the weekend, as Worthing FC played out a tough 2-2 draw against Bath City FC in what could be a vital game for play off positions in the Vanarama National League South. Located a stone’s throw from our offices, we are proud to sponsor our local team and it was great to capture a good image of the league’s top goal scorer, Ollie Pearce with our board. Congratulations to Danny Cashman on both goals and good luck to the Rebels for the rest of the season! ⚽🔴
One might think that the cameraman needs an architect (or some new socks) for one of the images!

It has been a busy year and we would just like to wish you all a great Xmas break as we shut down our office until the new year.
This was our 10 year anniversary and we have been working on the following highlights whilst still helping clients with their home extensions, renovations and improvements:
- A 13 bedroom home for the elderly and less able in Harrow
- A three storey extension to create a sixth form in a school
- A four court sports hall in Richmond
- A focal community building to a housing development in Harlow
- A sports pavilion with 6 changing rooms and 56 parking spaces
Maybe you will receive some Lego and end up becoming architect?

Back to Pagham earlier this week to see how our Sefter Road scheme for 6 bespoke houses is coming along... lots of progress since our last visit with the roof truss installation well underway, forming the vaulted internal spaces which will provide light and spacious interiors. Summertime made a brief reappearance as well!
